How the comparison works
- Subscription: the yearly price × the years you’ll keep making new things. For fonts and graphics you have to stay subscribed that long, because the license doesn’t let you start new designs with them after you cancel.
- One by one: files per year × your average price × years. Items bought individually never expire, so if you need the same few fonts every year rather than new ones, count them once and set years to 1.
- Break-even: the yearly price ÷ files per year gives the price per file at which both options cost the same.

When the subscription is the wrong tool
Going by Creative Fabrica’s own terms, a subscription is a poor fit when:
- You need a handful of fonts and plan to use them for years. Subscription fonts can’t be used for new designs after you cancel; single purchases and freebies can.
- You want as-is designs to stay on POD sites after you stop paying. Full POD rights from the subscription end with it.
- You need a webfont or fonts inside an app or ebook. No standard license covers that; it takes the separate Enterprise License.
- You mostly want AI tools. That is Studio AI, a separate subscription.
- Free fonts already do the job. Freebies come with a lifetime commercial license, and fonts under the SIL Open Font License, like the ones in our bubble letter generator, are free to use on products you sell.
